This Friday my lovely boyfriend took me on the best birthday treat present ever! He got us both VIP tickets to Grand Designs Live in Birmingham and I couldn’t have been any more excited or grateful. Sorry for the massive amount of photos, I had the most amazing day and had to share it.
After I got my birthday surprise, Entrance to the exhibition, Kevin McCloud, Jo Hamilton, VIP area, Garden design finalist 3 Fiona Daymond, Garden design finalist 3 Lee Bestall, Flower Pot, Distressed wood chest of draws, Driftwood table by Tristan Cockerill, Dream barn, Netched Slates, MissPrint PEFC wallpaper, Forever England throws, Office in a pod, Riverside Shepherd Huts, Massive Jacuzzi by HydroPool, TV picture frame by Mirror TV Company, Outside wooden swing seat, Crazy circular bed by OrderBeds.
Grand Designs Live was eco themed this year, and a whole space of the exhibition was dedicated to eco builds. The event was held at the NEC in Birmingham and the space was huge. As we entered the exhibition though a blue tunnel, the theme music was playing! There were so many different stalls split up into sections; kitchens, bathrooms, gardens, building, and, my favorite, interiors. There were so many things to do I didn’t know where to start! There were talks going on during the day where I saw Kevin McCoud speak and also went to a talk by Jo Hamilton. She was lovely and gave me some great advice after! The stalls ranged from reasonably priced interiors pieces like hand done paintings, prints, and lots of very tempting shabby chic decor.. The event was aimed at people building and designing their own homes, but I loved collecting little bits of inspiration for my own interior ideas. I even managed to get my boyfriend into a heated debate over the circular bed! (He thought it was tacky, in retrospect he may be right.) I definitely want to go again next year!
