Inspiring Design: Warehouse Conversions

I love looking online for unique homes, and Unique Property Company has some wonderful properties for sale. Although I’m not looking to buy, property websites are a great source of inspiration, and who doesn’t love window shopping?! Here are three different warehouse conversions I thought were so wonderful I had to share.

COLOURFUL WAREHOUSE

I love how bright and colourful this flat is! Although it has a modern, high tech feel this space manages to be cosy and homely at the same time.Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 17.54.45.pngThe colour scheme of this flat is bold but works so well with the light wood flooring and walls. Although there are a lot of plain flat surfaces, adding a poto wall has stopped the space feeling bland and impersonal.Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 17.55.07.pngI love this bathroom and the inventive use of space! The mosaic tiles are a crazy contrast with the yellow but works so well here. The bath looks wonderful too.Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 17.55.25.pngThis area is the least colourful of the flat, but the yellow theme is continued with subtle wall colours and bright accessories. The Union Jack cushions are still in trend, and tie in the blues of the flat without being oppressive.Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 17.55.59.pngSTONE AND WOOD

I love how bright and open this space is while maintaining exposed stone and brick. I’m a fan of warm woods, and the floor and furniture in this warehouse is absolutely beautiful. The columns help to create the sense of a spacious high ceiling.Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 17.56.08.png Modern items such as the kitchen blend seamlessly with more rustic furniture as the colour scheme here has been really well thought out.Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 17.56.18.pngThis room takes shabby chic to a whole new level. The ‘fire exit’ sign above the door is so unique, and the original grate that pulls shut is an amazing feature! The clean wooden surfaces add a warmth and homely feel to a room that could feel unwelcoming due to the exposed brickwork. Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 17.56.56.pngMODERN-RUSTIC LUXURY

Modern-Rustic?! I didn’t believe this style would work until I saw this warehouse conversion, but wow was I wrong! Somehow, the high-tech glass and steel stairs compliment the distressed wooden beams. The decadent marble floor acts as the main feature of this room, showing the variety of styles present in this residence.Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 17.57.04.pngThe windows in this room are breathtaking. They also let in a lot of light, allowing the original walls to be exposed without making this room dark. The wooden beams seem comforting, not oppressive, and the light furniture brings a modern element into the room.Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 17.57.22.pngWhile scrolling through the pictures of this house I found a wonderful little surprise… a roof terrace! The structure is high tech, with bright blue glass floors and a glass exterior. The accessories, however, are rustic and welcoming. The wicker chairs look so inviting, while the blue cushions tie the rustic to the modern. Outside, foliage is used to create a garden and some privacy, even in a busy modern city.
