Rachel Ashwell has been a favourite interior inspiration of mine for quite some time. I love her shabby chic style and her interiors have a soft, whimsical quality that I long to recreate in my own home.
The Prairie is Rachel Ashwell’s own hotel, situated in Cedar Creek, Texas. The Prairie is a stunning example of taking the shabby chic theme throughout the house, creating a beautiful rustic feel while being extraordinarily homely for a hotel.
I love the soft blues of this room, giving it a very subtle Georgian theme. By mixing typic Georgian features such as the rug, chair and mirror with shabby chic touches creates a cosy yet sophisticated feel.
This living area is a great example of how shabby chic doesn’t have to be all girlie. Feminine touches like the crockery and tulle dress are offset with bolder the bolder aqua wall colour and taxidermy deer head. The eclectic feel of this room is perfect, complimenting the wall colour with a rustic, warm wood.
The dining room of The Prairie is really stunning and embodies the shabby chic style. The dining table is dressed with beautiful crockery and pretty pink flowers, adding pretty touches to different shades of wood. By mixing and matching different woods and accessories a real ‘lived-in’ feel is created while still looking immaculately styled.
